How can I get a copy of my DD214?

Your Separation Document (DD214) is important to both you and also to your Next of Kin.  It is the generally accepted or required document needed to obtain veteran benefits or even to join veteran organizations such as the American Legion.

The National Archives provides an entire section for a Veteran or Next of Kin to request copies of the veteran's service records.

Here, you can request:

Veterans Driver License Indicator

In Virginia as of July 1, 2018, Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces have the option of adding a veteran indicator to their driver’s license or ID card. Having the word “veteran” appear on your driver’s license or ID card is a convenient way to demonstrate your veteran status. This option is offered by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) on behalf of the Department of Veterans Services (DVS).
