November 2025 - Squadron 56 of the Sons of the American Legion (SAL) was recently lauded by the Sons of the American Legion – Detachment of Virginia for their constant promotion of Americanism.
The Americanism award of the SAL appreciates devotion to law and order, the raising of wholesome youth, an educated and law-abiding citizenship, and respectful observance of patriotic holidays and remembrances. Squadron 56 secured recognition of their Americanism through participation in Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day ceremonies, donations to the YMCA, Kiptopeke Elementary School and Habitat For Humanity as well as the creation of their Everlasting Board which memorializes their fallen brothers.

November 2025 - Squadron 56 of the Sons of the American Legion (SAL) was recently lauded by the Sons of the American Legion – Detachment of Virginia for their outstanding contributions towards Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation (VA&R).
The Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation (VA&R) award recognizes the promotion and support as well as providing services that enhance the lives of veterans and their families. One example of how Squadron 56 achieved the VA&R award was through their support, coordination and support of Freedom Hunters activities on the Eastern Shore.
